Aircon not cold or not cooling properly repair

"Aircon is on but the room is not getting cold" is one of the most common calls a technician gets, and it covers several different faults. A blocked filter or dirty coil restricts airflow, low refrigerant from a leak reduces cooling capacity, a faulty capacitor stops the compressor from running properly, and in older units the compressor itself may be wearing out.

A technician will usually check filter and coil cleanliness first, then measure refrigerant pressure, check the capacitor and fan motor, and inspect for ice build-up on the coil or piping before deciding whether the fix is a clean, a gas top-up, a part replacement, or something bigger.

This is a diagnosis-led repair visit rather than a scheduled maintenance clean, so it is billed and booked differently from a routine servicing contract.

What it costs

Simple fixes like a clean or capacitor swap are relatively low cost. Cost rises if the issue turns out to be a refrigerant leak needing repair, a fan motor replacement, or a compressor problem, since parts and labour both increase. Most contractors charge a diagnostic or callout visit that can be offset against the repair if you proceed.
